JRSSTray is a free Java Web Start application that monitors RSS feeds and displays new items as messages in the system tray. A simple, refined interface makes it easy to add multiple RSS feeds and view recent items. The application is simple, lightweight and will work on computers with the Java Runtime version 6 installed.
